| MŌʻĪ MONDAY | In honor of mōʻī and aliʻi across our paeʻāina, our keiki adorned themselves to resemble various historical rulers like Kaʻiulani, Kalākaua, Liliʻuokalani, Kaʻahumanu, Boki, Emalani, Kekaulike, Kahekili, and Piʻilani!

| PAJAMAS FOR PŌʻALUA | Just like our virtual learning days, keiki rolled out of bed and came to school in their favorite and most comfortable lole moepō with their hair-do as crazy and wild as it was on Zoom this past school year!

| PŌʻAKOLU SPORTS DAY | Football, soccer, basketball, ping-pong, canoe paddling, surfing, and even makahiki games were all represented on sports day at school. Go teams!

| PŌʻAHĀ KUMU LIKE Ā LIKE DAY | Styling imitations of the teacher of their choice, our students really went all out this year to masquerade as their kumu! Miniature versions of Kumu Leimana are sassy and classy!

Mahalo ā nui loa e nā Kumu Au Hoon! Aia i kaulana a ka lā, i ka pae ʻōpua i ke kai, ua kō nō kēia papa punahele, ʻo ia ka Papa Paheona, no kēia makahiki! Wrapping up this school year with a beautiful painting of the sunset as the waʻa kiakahi sail off into the sea, we bid a fond farewell to our loea, our community practitioners. Please join us in congratulating Hinatea Kodani and Kanoa Souza-Ting, our two Grade 5 students, as they graduate from Ke Kula ʻo Piʻilani and start their middle-school journey with Kamehameha Schools Maui. From one mauna to the other, from ʻĪao to Aʻapueo, go forward with dedication, fortitude, and perseverance. We send you with all our love and well wishes, you will surely be missed! Both students will be available for a congratulatory drive-by at school on Friday, May 21, 2021 from 12:05 pm to 12:30 pm at the bottom gate of the school. Traffic will flow mauka to makai, please use the roadway access in front of our upper school entrance and drive downhill towards Kepaniwai Park. Please remain in your vehicle and exit through the park.

Summer 2021 is right around the corner! Weʻre sending out this invite to the community of Maui for our bilingual Hawaiian and English language summer fun program at Ke Kula ʻo Piʻilani. Our program, E HOʻI I KA PIKO, will be held on our ʻĪao campus from June 14th to July 2nd from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm and is open to all students across Maui in from Grades 1 through Grade 5. Discounts are available for students signing up for all three weeks and for families signing up more than one student for all three weeks. Registration and payment is due by June 1st. Applications are available on our website at www.kekulaopiilani.com or by calling (808) 214-5006. We will be observing increased health and safety procedures and space is limited. Students at Ke Kula ʻo Piʻilani celebrated Lei Day in Hawaiʻi by gathering flowers with our families and learning to kui lei, or sew a lei, using a needle and thread.

You may have seen this friendly, smiling face around during special events and fieldtrips. This is Matthew Nall and he has been working on our digital storytelling project. He has a business called Maui Creative Photography and he has been our in-house storyteller for the past two months. You will see more of his work to come. Welcome to the team!
